(OnlineEd) – Mortgage Loan Originators (“MLOs”) doing business in the current market are tasked with creating a business based on sound, ethical practices that are in compliance with federal regulations and fair housing laws. At the same time, they must be knowledgeable about the many programs available for their clients. The OnlineEd® 8-hour NMLS approved continuing education course will familiarize the MLO with fair lending practices and the federal regulation requirements of RESPA, TILA, MDIA, ECOA, the Fair Housing Act, the Can-Spam Act, and the E-Sign Act.
In addition to providing a comprehensive introduction to the multitude of regulations affecting the mortgage industry, the 8-hour SAFE Act NMLS approved Comprehensive Course also offers an overview of specialty programs such as FHA’s 203 (k) Rehab Loan, Energy Efficient Mortgage, and Good Neighbor Next Door program.
Course Objectives, Goals, and Purpose:
The OnlineEd® course is delivered wholly online and designed to guide MLOs in the development, adoption, and implementation of specific regulatory and fair housing procedures and strategies. In addition, the MLO will gain an understanding of several available FHA programs that may not have been previously considered a viable option.
The curriculum will prepare MLOs to deal efficiently and effectively with compliance regulations and help them to develop a better understanding of the laws governing mortgage banking, how to remain in compliance, and how to anticipate and prevent violations.
The course is for MLS license renewal in most states and is delivered online in text with video. The NMLS also requires an additional $12 credit banking fee to be paid. An NMLS ID Number is need to enroll in the course if it is to be used for continuing education credit. Visit www.OnlineEd.com to sign up for the course or to obtain more information.
