In real estate law, an Estate from Period to Period, also known as a periodic tenancy, is a leasehold interest that continues for successive rental periods without a definite termination date. The tenancy automatically renews at the end of each period, such as week to week, month to month, or year to year, unless proper notice is given by either party.
The rental amount and payment interval are fixed, but the duration remains open ended. Termination requires advance notice as specified by the lease or state law, making this type of estate more flexible than a fixed term lease but more structured than a tenancy at will.
