Executor

by | Feb 4, 2026

In real estate and estate law, an Executor is a person named in a will to carry out the instructions of the deceased regarding the management and distribution of their estate. This includes handling real property, paying debts and taxes, and transferring title to heirs or devisees as directed by the will.

The executor acts in a fiduciary capacity and must follow probate court procedures and applicable laws. While the traditional term for a female executor is executrix, modern usage and statutes often use the gender neutral term executor for all individuals serving in this role.
