Power of Attorney

by | Feb 6, 2026

In real estate and agency law, a power of attorney is a written legal instrument by which a principal grants authority to another person to act on the principal’s behalf. The authority granted may be broad or limited, depending on the terms of the document.

The agent acting under a power of attorney is often referred to as the principal’s attorney in fact. In real estate transactions, a power of attorney may be used to authorize the execution of documents or other acts when the principal is unable or unavailable to act personally.
