Timeshare License in Oregon

by | Jul 12, 2026

Beginning January 1, 2026, Oregon offers a new Timeshare Sales Agent License for individuals who want to sell or offer to sell timeshares without obtaining a full real estate broker license. Created by House Bill 2373, the new license is limited in scope and applies only to timeshare transactions. A timeshare sales agent may not engage in traditional real estate brokerage, property management, or any other professional real estate activities outside of timeshare sales. Like brokers, timeshare sales agents must work under the supervision of a managing principal broker and may not practice independently or supervise other licensees. https://www.oregon.gov/rea/newsroom/pages/2025-oren-j/new-real-estate-license-laws-and-rules-effective-january-1.aspx

To qualify for the license, an applicant must be at least 18 years old, complete a 14-hour Oregon Real Estate Agency-approved prelicensing course focused on timeshare law and practice, and pass the state licensing examination. Unlike brokers and principal brokers, timeshare sales agents are not required to complete continuing education to renew their licenses, and experience gained under this license does not count toward the experience required to become a principal broker. Existing brokers and principal brokers may continue to sell timeshares without obtaining the new license, but beginning January 1, 2026, anyone selling or offering to sell timeshares in Oregon must hold either a broker, principal broker, or timeshare sales agent license. https://apps.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2025R1/Measures/Overview/HB2373
